News from T2

This term, students in T2 have been working incredibly hard across all learning areas and have enjoyed a variety of engaging experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

In literacy, we have continued our focus on the UFLI program, with students practising their letter knowledge and sounds. Students have also been using the PODD book to choose words and type sentences for our predictable chart writing activities, which has helped build confidence in communication. As part of Talk for Writing, we explored exciting ideas through hands-on activities, such as making Viking helmets to bring our story learning to life.

In mathematics, the focus has been on position and direction. Students had lots of fun using the play equipment to explore concepts like “over,” “under,” “next to,” and “through.” These practical experiences have helped students connect classroom learning to real-world actions.

This term, T2 has also been learning about Aboriginal culture. In shared reading, we enjoyed listening to and exploring Dreamtime stories, which helped students understand the importance of storytelling in Aboriginal traditions. We also spent time in the Bush Tucker Garden, where students explored traditional plants and their uses. A highlight was making damper, which gave students a chance to connect with Indigenous traditions through food. Our excursion to Kings Park was another special opportunity to learn more about local Aboriginal culture and the natural environment.
